Over 20 tractors left Wayland early Aug. 5, 2010, for the Wayland Area Antique Tractor Club’s annual trek to Hamilton, Illinois for the Western Illinois Old Settlers and Threshers Reunion.

1995
A single vehicle accident occurred south of Wayland on W55. Matt Heisner and Brooke Wagler escaped serious injuries, Angie Grant was hospitalized.
An accident occurred north of Wayland, four miles south of Washington and W55. A vehicle driven by Carl Greiner attempted a left turn at Sockum Ridge road in front of Anetia Lyon of Wayland. No one was injured.
Willis and Susan (Miller) Troyer celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary.

Colleen Sue (Housh) Farrington, age 48, of Wayland was killed in a two-vehicle accident on Hwy. 19 near Salem, Missouri.

Belinda Sue Budde and Brett James Slaubaugh were married on July 19.
Marlene Burkholder and Jeffrey Allred were married July 7 at Lake Geode Park.
Robyn A. McCoy and Robert C. Lamb were married July 26.
Nancy Elizabeth Lauer and Robert James Hanna were married June 28 at Swedesburg.
1975
A 1973 Chevrolet Monte Carlo owned by William J. Thoma, Wayland, was destroyed by fire southeast of Swedesburg. Thoma was driving south when the car started filling with smoke. Thome got out of the car and ran to a nearby farmhouse to summon firemen.
Kathy Miller was welcomed by New Life UM Parish as an intern with pastors Art and Nancy Allen under the Parish Experience program.
Cathy McCoy and Daniel Thurman were married June 14 at Olds.

Kay Louise Freyenberger and Jarry Frunzi have announced their engagement and upcoming Aug. 15 wedding.
1955
Forest Rich purchased the Wayland Bakery equipment and took over the business. He has employed Max Morgan, a baker with 13 years of experience to do the baking and Miss Opal Bain with work in the retail.
LR Schrock was injured when a belt from the line shaft came off machinery at the Wayland Elevator Company.
