The bridge across Crooked Creek on W55 is to be replaced after being damaged when hit by the blade of a bulldozer being hauled on a lowboy truck. The bridge has been closed to traffic since the accident.

A runoff election for Wayland mayor is needed as neither candidate received the necessary percentage of votes to be elected. On the ballot will be Sherman Umphrey and James G. Stoops.
Eva M. Rebo, 39, was injured when she fell asleep at the wheel and her car left eh road and crashed into a fence at the intersection of Coppock and the Wayland-Washington blacktop.
