BBQ heaven at the fair
BBQ contest returns to Henry County Fair
MT. PLEASANT — Sweet, spicy and gristle. Prepare for some good eats on Sunday, July 18, with the Henry County Fair BBQ Contest coming back this year.
This Kansas City style barbecue contest is held by the Southeast Iowa BBQ Tour Stop. The meat categories include chicken, ribs, pork shoulder and beef brisket.
The cooks meeting is at 9 a.m. on Sunday, and the judging begins at noon.
Entries will be judged on appearance, taste and tenderness. Turn in boxes will be provided for contestants. Judging will be double blind, and meat will be inspected upon arrival.
