How will your high school experiences help you in the coming years?: I think one of the most beneficial experiences our high school has to offer is cross aging. It is where high school students go to elementary classrooms to help teachers out and can even experience one-on-one time with elementary students of any grade you prefer. This also helped me find my passion for education.
Fondest memory of high school: Joining the Cross Country team my Senior year and making it to state.
Which teachers have had the biggest impact on you and why?: Brandi Strickler and Melissa Kissell helped me find my passion for education and learning. KarlieAnn Wade was always there for me and truly showed that me teachers care for their students. She shaped me into the student and basketball player I am today.
Who is your role model and how did they influence you?: My family influences me because they all work so hard to achieve their dreams and provide for me and my siblings.
What is special about your high school?: I think the most special thing about Pekin High School is community involvement. I will always remember the gym packed full of community members watching sporting events, coming to our Veterans Day assembly honoring those who have fought for our country and I will always remember how nice our community members are to students. They always support me, congratulate me, and go out of their way to help students and the school. I also enjoy how Pekin students are always so willing to help the community members as well.
If you go back to when you were a freshman, what advice would you give yourself?: If I could go back to freshman year I would force myself to become more involved with different clubs and activities.
