Kevin Flannery
Washington High School
Parents: Ryan and Diana Flannery
Co-curricular activities: Band, Drama, Speech, Cross Country, Track, and Swimming.
Future Plans and Goals: I am attending Augustana College in Rock Island, IL in the fall. I plan to hopefully major in pre-med, and attend medical school after college.
How will your high school experiences help you in the coming years: I will feel comfortable being uncomfortable, making friends in any place, and making the best out of any situation.
Fondest memory of High School: Winning conference for cross country for 2 years in a row.
Which teachers had the biggest impact on you and why?: Mr. Caulk, Captain, had the biggest impact on my learning. His history classes were some of the hardest classes, yet the most fun I've had in a class.
Who is your role model and how did they influence you?: My principal from elementary school, Mr. W. He was diagnosed with throat cancer during my 5th grade year, but still, he came to school any day he could. His resilience to his cancer inspired me as a kid and still does today.
What is Special about your high school?: Every Friday we have a half day and get out at 1:20.
If you could go back to when you were a freshman, what advice would you give yourself?: I'd tell my younger self to be more social and be active in sports, either be a part of them or go watch the games. Also in about 7 months there's going to be a pandemic and school will shut down before 4th term.
