Future plans and goals: I plan to go to college in the field of environmental science and from there I am not sure exactly what career I wish to go into as there are many options. One career I would be interested in is that of a Sustainability Director, either at a large college, corporation, or a even city.
How will your high school experiences help you in the coming years?: High school has helped to prepare me for college and the responsibilities I will have there. Being on sports teams in high school taught me about accountability and dedication which are two values I will be sure to carry throughout my life.
Fondest memory of high school: I would say that the Accelerated Human Geography class I took sophomore year would be one of my best memories. The class was very different from other classes I had taken, as the entire semester would build up to a research paper on a third world country. The class helped show me what career I wanted to pursue in the future.
Which teachers have had the biggest impact on you and why?: I would say probably my English teacher Freshman and Sophomore year, Mrs. Kohorst, as she has such an amazing classroom environment and showed how learning does not by any means need to be a task but instead can be fun.
Who is your role model and how did they influence you?: I consider my grandpa to be a role model of mine, as he is a well educated, calm, and collected man and all of these are aspects I value a lot.
What is special about your high school?: I think that my school has a lot of good opportunities for students who want to push themselves, and also to get ahead on their education. One example of this is the plethora of college classes students are able to take either online through SCC or Iowa Weselyan, which also offers in person classes.
If you go back to when you were a freshman, what advice would you give yourself?: I would tell myself to enjoy high school as much as I could, and that all the people who said it goes by fast were right.
