10 wrestlers finish in Top 3

It was a big day for area wrestlers at the Southeast Iowa Super Conference tournament on Saturday in Wapello.

Columbus and Highland combined to have 10 wrestlers finish with a third-place finish or better at the tournament, including five championships.

At 106, Columbus? Josh Keller (35-2 on the season) took first place, winning all three of his matches by fall.

At 113, Highland?s Drew West (40-0) finished in first place, defeating Columbus? Mitchell Griffin (28-8) by fall in the championship match.

Bryce West (42-0) won the 120-pound weight class for Highland, winning his first two matches by pin falls in under a minute, and taking the championship match by an 18-6 major decision.

Keaton Pallister (23-6) took first at 126 for Columbus, winning all of his matches by fall.

At 145, Columbus? Austin Edwards (33-9) took third place, his only loss coming by way of a 1-0 decision in the semifinals.

At 160, Highland?s Zach Kleopfer (36-5) finished in second place, falling in the finals by a technical fall.

Tucker Morrison (35-2) took first place for Columbus at 170, winning his first two matches by fall, then claiming the championship in a 3-1 overtime victory.

Columbus? Kyle Giese (17-10) took third in the 220 weight class, his only loss coming by fall in the semifinals.

In the 285 weight class, Columbus? Kyle Davis (34-2) finished in second place, winning by fall in his first two matches before losing a 4-3 decision in the championship match.
