With the completion of the 2023 baseball season, the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association has now named this year’s Academic All-State Teams.
The 2023 IHSBCA All-Academic Teams were selected by a panel of coaches who named senior players that exhibit outstanding academic, moral and athletic characteristics.
This time around, just one Union area athlete graces the list.
That senior is none other than Van Buren County’s Jackson Manning.
Manning was stellar for the Warriors this season and helped them earn a trip to Carroll for the 2023 Class 2A state tournament.
He finished the season batting .522 with 51 runs, 47 hits and 60 RBIs. All of which were team leading. Manning hit two home runs as well.
On the mound, Manning finished with an ERA of 1.40.
As the Warrior’s closer, Manning gave up eight hits, four runs (four earned) with 26 strikeouts. Opponents hit with an average of just .096 against him.
