Mid-Prairie names eight players to RVC All-Conference including Coach of the Year

WELLMAN — What a season it was on the baseball diamond for the Golden Hawks of Mid-Prairie.
Mid-Prairie spent the entire season inside the top two of the Class 2A standings, holding the No. 1 spot for numerous weeks and the No. 2 distinction for the majority of the year.
The Golden Hawks finished with a 27-7 overall record and a 17-1 River Valley Conference South record on their way to a substate final appearance.
With the completion of the season, the RVC South has released it latest All-Conference baseball list and the Golden Hawks represent in an abundance.
Mid-Prairie has eight total player selections, including six first-team players, along with the Coach of the Year distinction in the form of Golden Hawk head coach Kyle Mullet.
Representing the Golden Hawks on first-team as a pitcher is Collin Miller.
In 11 games played through the season, the senior amassed a 7-0 record to lead the Golden Hawks.
Miller finished with an ERA of 1.68, giving up 41 hits, 15 runs (14 earned) and 74 strikeout against 210 opponents. The opposition batted with an average of .195.
In the outfield, senior Alex Bean was selected to first-team.
Bean batted .375 on the season. He notched 22 runs, 39 hits and 28 RBIs through the 33 games.
In the field, Bean finished with a fielding percentage of .948.
Bean also did some pitching as well. Bean ended with a 6-2 record and a 3.50 ERA. He gave up 28 hits, 24 runs (19 earned) and 40 strikeouts.
Also a first-team pick was sophomore Brady Weber as a utility.
In Weber’s 28 games, he tallied 18 runs, 29 hits, 20 RBIs with a .341 average in the box.
On the hill, Weber pitched to a 5-0 record. In eight games played he gave up 20 hits, seven runs (seven earned) with 29 strikeouts with an ERA of 1.58.
Junior Karson Grout earns a first-team honor as well at shortstop.
Grout ended with a team-best .457 batting average with 34 runs and team-best in hits, 48, and RBIs, 37. He also had four home runs on the season.
Grout finished with a fielding percentage of .878 at short. He also stole a perfect 20-of-20 bases on the year as well.
Senior Cain Brown earned a first-team nod as an infielder.
Brown batted .314 for the season and scored a team-high 37 runs with 33 hits and 25 RBIs. At first base, Brown finished with a fielding percentage of .980. He also stole a perfect 26-of-26 bases, a team-high.
Junior Brock Harland caught his way to a first-team selection.
Harland swung with an average of .307 this season with eight runs, 23 hits and 15 RBIs.
Behind the plate, Harland finished with a fielding percentage of .976 and caught four runners stealing.
Harland pitched as well. He ended with a 4-0 record and an ERA of 1.09. Through six games, he gave up 16 runs (four earned) on 26 hits with 24 strikeouts.
On second-team is senior Camron Pickard as an infielder.
Pickard batted .264 on the season with 33 runs, 23 hits and 14 RBIs. At second much of the time, Pickard finished with a fielding percentage of .924.
Representing the Golden Hawks on the honorable mention list is sophomore Landry Gingerich in the infield.
Gingerich hit with an average of .268 with 10 runs, 11 hits and 10 RBIs through 26 games played. In the field he finished with a fielding percentage of .862.
