The Iowa High School Athletic Association released its 2024-25 bowling classifications this week with the sport being separated into three classes.
Teams are separated into either 3A, 2A or 1A. Class 3A is made up of 32 teams as well as class 2A. The remaining schools take up class 1A.
The IHSAA classifies sports based on school enrollment numbers from each year to inform the following school year.
Enrollment numbers are provided by the Basic Educational Data Survey (BEDS) from the Iowa Department of Education.
The three Union area schools in Mt. Pleasant, Washington and Fairfield have been placed.
Mt. Pleasant, who’s sharing a program with Danville and New London is in Class 2A with a BEDS count of 695.
Washington and Fairfield are both in 1A with counts of 329 and 328 respectively.
