2024 All-State baseball teams announced

With the end of yet another summer of baseball, it means that it’s time to take a look at the 2024 All-State Teams as released by the Iowa High School Baseball Coaches Association.

Featuring an abundance of the top players from each of Iowa High School baseball’s four classes, just one of those players represents the Union area this time around.

That lone selection is Mid-Prairie junior Tatum Telfer. Telfer was given a Class 2A third team all-state honor for his play.

Telfer was a duel threat for the Golden Hawks this summer. He led Mid-Prairie with a batting average of .382. He finished the season with 25 runs and posted team highs in hits (34), home runs (5) and RBIs (31).

On the hill, Telfer finished with a team best 5-1 record. With a 1.95 ERA, he gave up nine runs (eight earned) with 70 strikeouts. Opponents had just a 0.24 batting average against Telfer through seven games.
