BURLINGTON - Racing is back at 34 Raceway, as the track reopens after a long closure due to COVID-19 restrictions. The first race of the year will be this Sunday, May 24 when the Spring Invaders open their 2020 schedule, along with $1,500-to-win IMCA Late Models and $1,00-to-win IMCA Stock Cars.
Due to state mandates restricting the event to competitors and teams only, this will be the first race in the history of 34 Raceway to be hosted without a single fan in the grandstands. The event will be available on Pay-Per-View on Speed Shift TV.
'This situation is not ideal, but we are doing the best with the hand we have been dealt,” said Jessi Mynatt of 34 Raceway in a press release. 'We will be following CDC guidelines and have implemented additional sanitation practices to keep our drivers and teams safe while at our facility. Our fans are the life of the racetrack and it is going to be very different not having them there to cheer on their favorite drivers from the grandstands.”
Hot laps for the event will begin at 6:15 p.m., with racing to follow. For more information visit 34raceway.com or visit 34 Raceway on Facebook.
