4 ranked teams compete at Fulk Classic

Local wrestling action was highlighted by ranked teams at New London's Jeremy Fulk Classic. Pekin hosted its Bill Rex Invitational and placed second.
Tigers take 4th in tourney
NEW LONDON - Class 1A's fifth-ranked New London hosted the Jeremy Fulk Classic Saturday, finishing fourth as 1A's No. 2 Lisbon won the event, Class 2A's No. 10 Solon was second, Class 2A's No. 9 Notre Dame/West Burlington/Danville was fifth and Mid-Prairie took sixth, anchored by Mose Yoder. Yoder was the Golden Hawks only champ, registering two pins to win.
Marcel Lopez was New London's only winner, taking the 126 title with a 9-1 major decision over Cade Siebrecht of Lisbon.
New London had four second-places with Mavy Pope at 106. Dominic Lopez at 145, Josh Glendening at 152, and Currey Jacobs at 195. Boden Pickle took third at 170.
Mid-Prairie's Gannon Callahan was second at 285 and teammates Ben Meader at 182, Cael Garvey at 195 and Josh Wallington at 220 all placed third in their weights.

Demons go 2-3 at duals
CASCADE - Washington competed in five duals at Western Dubuque Friday, winning two, but losing three.
The Demons won 38-17 over Bellevue with Jacob Hill's 11-2 win and Jack Kleese's 9-0 decision. Jacob Miller won by fall in 36 seconds and Hill in: 51 in the 36-12 win over Clayton Ridge. A 51-24 loss to Dubuque Wahlert saw pins by Robert Bennett in 3:37, Ayden Frazier in 2:41 and Lane Schrock in 3:03. Hill (1:00) and Frazier (: 33) scored quick pins and Bennett tallied a 7-4 decision in the 54-21 loss to the host Cougars. Frazier's pin in 1:51 was the only Demon win in the 78-6 loss to MFL MarMac,
Pekin 2nd as hosts
PACKWOOD - Pekin's tournament Saturday was the Bill Rex Invitational and the hosts finished second behind Albia. Van Buren was sixth, Cardinal seventh, and WACO eighth.
Pekin had three champions with Michael Jones winning at 138 pounds, Mason Juhl at 195 and Cael Baker at 152. Van Buren's Preston Buss defeated Ryan Doud of Pekin to win the 182 weight.
Jones, who has a 7-0 record, defeated Justin Keller of Albia (3-1) by fall in 1:31 in the title match.
Baker, 3-0, had to go extra time, wining in sudden victory over Albia's Stephen Conley (2-1), 4-2.
Buss had to defeat Doud twice and won by fall both times, once in the second round at 3:15 and once in the first at 1:15.
Juhl, 5-0, also had to double up and did so with a 6-1 decision and a 1:50 pin over Hayden Jones, of North Mahaska.
