4A/3A volleyball brackets announced
Mt. Pleasant, Washington, Fairfield and Mid-Prairie postseasons set
The Iowa Girls High School Athletic Union released its 2023 regional volleyball pairings this week, which means area teams now know what their path to the state tournament looks like.
For the Union area’s Class 4A and 3A squads, it’s going to be a tough road as some stout opponents await.
Those teams include Mt. Pleasant in Class 4A, along with Washington, Fairfield and Mid-Prairie in 3A.
For Mt. Pleasant, the 4A Region 8 road starts with a familiar face in Southeast Conference foe Keokuk.
After that No. 1 Clear Creek-Amana awaits. The Clippers are one of two undefeated teams left in the entire state.
On the opposite side of the bracket, the Southeast Conferences own, Fort Madison and Burlington will faceoff in round one.
Oskaloosa sits in wait in the second round. The regional final will take place on October 24.
In Class 3A Region 8, Washington and Fairfield will compete.
The Demons open up against No. 4 Davenport Assumption.
Fairfield gets Davis County in the opening round.
The bottom half of the bracket features Solon matching with Central Lee and Tipton taking on Mediapolis.
Mid-Prairie is in Class 3A Region 6. The No. 8 Golden Hawks will take on Saydel in the opening round.
PCM will battle Chariton on the same side of the bracket as Mid-Prairie.
No. 9 Center Point-Urbana and West Marshall square off in the bottom half of the bracket as well as Albia and Centerville.
