8th-grade-grils win 1, lose 1

The Washington eighth-grade girls basketball teams opened the season when they played at home Tuesday against Mt. Pleasant.

The A team (0-1) lost, 39-15.

Makenna Conrad had six points and a rebound while Kaylin Long had three points and two rebounds. Other stats were Alex Murphy - two points, three rebounds, one steal; Bailey Rees - two points, two rebounds, one steal; Grace Voss - two points, one rebound; Kenializ Espinosa - seven rebounds; Haley Mitchell - five rebounds; Iris Peterson one rebound.

The B team (1-0) won 31-11. Stats were Anna Collett - two points, three rebounds, one steal; Kenializ Espinosa - eight points, six rebounds, three steals; Samantha Hunger - six points, eight rebounds, four steals; Hayden Janecek - three points, two rebounds; Iris Peterson - four points, five rebounds, two steals; Ruby Ponce - five points, one rebounds, one steal; Gracey Simmering - three points, three rebounds, three steals; Abby Blasingame - three rebounds, two steals; Makayla Garrelts - four rebounds, two steals; Ava Wulf - one rebound, one steal.
