8th-graders’ volleball season ends

Washington's eighth-grade volleyball team concluded its season Monday in home matches against Fairfield.

'It was a great season,” coach Micah Wedemeier said. 'I had so much fun watching all of the girls grow throughout the year!”

Against Fairfield, the A team lost 21-14, 12-21, 15-7. B won 21-12, 21-12. C lost 21-15, 21-18. D won 21-4, 21-8.

Top servers were Natalie McCleary at 100 percent and Bailey Rees at 90.

Alex Murphy had 11 kills.

Thursday at Mt. Plesant, A lost 21-15, 21-15. B split 21-15, 15-21. C split 16-21, 21-13. D won 21-16, 21-12.

Top servers were Haley Mitchell at 100 percent, Amber Hesseltine at 100 and Ava Wulf at 92.

Last Monday at home against Fort Madison, A lost 21-6, 21-17. B won 21-11, 21-15. C won 21-19, 12-21, 15-9.

Top servers were both Wulf and Samantha Hunger at 100 percent.
