Northeast (4-4) at Mid-Prairie (5-3)
Site, time: Mid-Priaire High School, 7 p.m.
Overview: Mid-Prairie earned a home game to start the 2021 playoffs with a 49-32 win over Davis County last season. The Golden Hawks will face a Northeast squad that has lost two-straight games coming into the Class 2A postseason.
Durant (2-6) at No. 5 Sigourney/Keota (8-0)
Site, time: Sigourney High School, 7 p.m.
Overview: After polishing off a second-straight unbeaten regular season, the Cobras will look to blow past two-win Durant in the Class 1A playoffs.
Cardinal (5-3) at West Branch (6-2)
Site, time: Butch Pedersen Field, West Branch
Overview: In what could be a fantastic game in the Class 1A field, Cardinal looks to take down West Branch on their own home field after ending the season with three-straight losses.
Highland (3-5) at No. 9 Lynnville-Sully (7-1)
Site, time: Lynnville-Sully High School, 7 p.m.
Overview: The Huskies have their work cut out for them as they hit the road in the Class A playoffs to face a Lynnville-Sully squad that hasn’t lost since Week 1, and has given up just 12.2 points per game this season.
Edgewood-Colesburg (5-3) at No. 7 WACO (8-0)
Site, time: WACO High School, 7 p.m.
Overview: The unbeaten WACO Warriors look to keep the good times rolling, but they won’t have an easy first round game despite being a top seed in Class 8-Player. Edgewood-Colesburg’s three losses have all come against ranked opponents.
New London (4-3) at No. 2 Montezuma (9-0)
Site, time: Montezuma High School, 7 p.m.
Overview: After making it into the Class 8-Player playoffs on the very last day, the Tigers will try to pull a stunner against one of the best teams in the 8-Player game. They’ll have to slow down Montezuma’s Eddie Burgess, who is third in the class with 1,778 passing yards this season.
New London’s Dom Lopez carries the ball while getting hounded by WACO’s Jonah Clark earlier this season. On Friday, both the Tigers and Warriors will compete in Class 8-Player playoff games. (Andy Krutsinger/The Union)
