CEDAR RAPIDS — Some of the state’s brightest young stars in girls wrestling competed at the 2026 AAU Girls State Wrestling Tournament, held in Cedar Rapids last week.
Southeast Iowa’s local clubs brought 13 athletes to XTreme Arena to compete with the best of the best in the AAU ranks.
Of those 13 wrestlers, seven earned podium finishes, and three were able to stand at the top of those podiums after winning state titles.
Fairfield’s Alyssa Keller and Kate Miller both captured an AAU state title, becoming the first girls wrestlers from Fairfield to do so. Also winning her bracket was Pekin’s Jude McCabe, who wrestles under Moyer Elite.
Maci Crow of Pekin and Charley Metcalf of Fairfield each brought home a fourth-place finish. KaliAnn Nupp and Shila Nupp, both of Fairfield, placed sixth and seventh.
Other area girls who competed included Addisyn Jack, Vera Smith, Tiana Westercamp and Paislee Woodard, representing the Fairfield Stars and Stripes Wrestling Club, as well as Pekin’s Preslee Hixon, and Van Buren County’s Ona Nichols.
The teams are coached by Jeff Guttry, Tylor Pilcher and Logan Metcalf of the Stars and Stripes Wrestling Club, along with Dustin Phillips of Pekin. Fairfield varsity wrestler Jasper Carpenter also helped out with the squads.
