The Iowa Football Coaches Association released the 2022 Academic All State Honor Roll this week, and the Union area had 16 names on the list.
The Academic Honor Roll is a list of seniors who play football and have a cumulative grade-point average of 3.7 or better at the end of their junior year.
Along with having a 3.7 GPA, the player must be involved in other extracurricular activities. The team’s head coach must also recommend the player to be on the list.
Mt. Pleasant and WACO led the area with four names on the list. Washington had three. Mid-Prairie and Pekin had two players named, and Columbus had one.
