The Southeast Conference released its All-Conference baseball team on Thursday after the last of the six league squads had been eliminated from postseason play.
The SEC had a rough go in the substate tournaments, with no teams making the semifinals. During the regular season, Burlington ran away with the league crown.
The 2022 All-SEC baseball teams were reflective of Burlington’s run. The Grayhounds led the way with four first-team names, including Player of the Week Brock Dengler, and nine honorees overall.
Washington led the Union area teams with three first team honorees and six names overall. Fairfield had two first-teamers and matched Washington with six names total. Mt. Pleasant didn’t have any first-teamers, but did have four names on the list.
Area first team names included Washington seniors Ethan Zieglowsky and Lucas Kroll, along with Demon junior Ethan Patterson. Fairfield seniors Dylan Hunter and Connor Lyons made the list as well.
It will be a new day when the 2023 season rolls around. Out of 13 first-teamers, 10 of them were seniors. There were 10 seniors on the second team as well, and there were no underclassmen on either the first or second teams, with just two making the honorable mention list.
