All-Southeast Conference wrestlers named

The Southeast Conference has released its All-Conference wrestling list for the 2020-21 season, and the Union coverage area had a combined 11 named to either the first or second team.

Fairfield had the most first-teamers out of the three Union big school teams. Mt. Pleasant and Washington had one each. The Trojans had a pair of seniors and one junior on the first team.

Cohyn Roach was named to the first team at 138 pounds. He was joined by fellow senior Payton Cline, at 145, and junior Cesar Smithburg, at 220, to make up the Trojan trio.

The Trojans had one wrestler on the second team. Senior Logan Adam earned second team honors at 152.

Mt. Pleasant had the most names of the three schools, one on the first team and five on the second. The Panthers' lone first-teamer was Chayse Irving, who got the nod at 170.

The Panthers had names at four of the five lightest weights on the second team. Ella McNamee (113), Gannon McNamee (120), Carson Coleman (126), and Bowen Davis (132) were all honored.

Mt. Pleasant's lone senior, Sam Carrasco also made the ALL SEC second team. Carrasco was honored at the 220 pound weight class, giving the Panthers five second-teamers, the most of any other school in the conference.

State qualifier Ayden Frazer represented Washington on the All-SEC first team, getting the spot at 182. Frazer was the only Demon selected.

Listed below are the selections for the All-SEC wrestling teams, including the All-Academic team, which included nine area wrestlers; seven from Fairfield and two from Mt. Pleasant.
