WASHINGTON — Washington Golf and Country Club will be the place to be on Wednesday, that is if you want to know which of the area’s big school runners will be headed to Fort Dodge next weekend.
The Demons host the Southeast Conference and then some in a meet that includes 14 schools, all vying for three state qualifier spots. Individually, the Top-15 runners will all get in.
The same goes for the area’s Class 2A squads, which run on Thursday. Girls’ cross-country power house Mid-Prairie will be at Pella Christian, along with Cardinal, the Danville-New London boys and Van Buren County.
Class 1A’s schools are a little more spread out. Pekin will travel to Leon for their meet, hosted by Central Decatur, but Columbus, the Danville-New London girls, Highland, Hillcrest Academy, Keota, WACO and Winfield-Mount Union will all be in Iowa City.
In Class 1A, only the Top-2 teams and first 10 individuals across will be making the trip to Fort Dodge.
All meets are scheduled for a 4 p.m. start., unless sites are hosting two different classes, in which case they will begin at 3 p.m.
