With a new Associated Press high school basketball poll, Union area coverage teams still find themselves slated with some of the best teams from across the state.
Washington continues to be ranked among the best teams in 3A. The Demons, who were previously ranked No. 4 have now moved up to No. 3 in the rankings.
The Demons have been on a roll as of late, picking up wins against, then No. 1 Fort Madison and Clear Creek-Amana.
Most recently, Washington ran into a bit of a speed bump, falling to Class 2A’s No. 6 ranked Williamsburg on Monday night.
The Demons will wrap up their week with a Southeast Conference matchup against Keokuk on Feb. 11.
For Mid-Prairie, this season has been everything they could have asked for and more.
The Golden Hawks still hold the ranking as the No. 2 team in Class 2A. At 20-0, Mid-Prairie is the only unbeaten inside the top 10.
They will be put to the test on Friday, in a marquee matchup with No. 7 ranked Monticello.
In Class 1A, no Union area teams are inside the top 10, but New London, WACO and Winfield-Mt. Union are all receiving votes. Danville is also in the conversation.
The Tigers are just outside the top 10 with 13 votes. WACO received five votes. Winfield-Mt. Union has two.
