Aplara goes 5-0, Panther team gets two wins at dual tournament
MARION ? At the Linn-Mar Dual Tournament on Saturday, the Panthers went 2-3 overall. They defeated Marion and Dubuque Hempstead, but fell to Mt. Vernon, Linn-Mar and Clinton.
Colton Aplara led the Panthers with a 5-0 record on the day. The 195-pounder pinned four of his opponents and won one match by major decision, 9-1.

MARION ? At the Linn-Mar Dual Tournament on Saturday, the Panthers went 2-3 overall. They defeated Marion and Dubuque Hempstead, but fell to Mt. Vernon, Linn-Mar and Clinton.
Colton Aplara led the Panthers with a 5-0 record on the day. The 195-pounder pinned four of his opponents and won one match by major decision, 9-1.
As a team, the Panthers defeated Marion by a score of 57-18. They came out on top in 10 of the 14 matches, getting wins by fall from Michael Alderson (152), Jayton Phillips (160), Justin Dilks (182), Aplara, Emmett Wester (285) and Conner Eads (113). Josh Larson (145) won by decision, while Jacob Dilks (220), Tyler Lanphier (120) and Alex Lanphier (126) each won by forfeit.
Against Dubuque Hempstead, the Panthers took a 57-17 decision. In that dual, they had six pins: Alderson, Phillips, Justin Dilks, Aplara, Tyler Lanphier and Alex Lanphier all won by fall. Larson again won by decision. Wester and Eads won by forfeit, and Rob Pohren (138) took six points by injury default.
Aplara and Wester had the only pins against Mt. Vernon. Justin Dilks won by decision, Eads won by major decision and Tyler Lanphier won by technical fall.
When they took on the host team, Linn-Mar, the Panthers got pins from Alderson, Noah Brown (170) and Wester. Aplara won by major decision;
Against Clinton, Pohren, Aplara and Eads each pinned his opponent. Jacob Dilks won by decision and so did Alex Lanphier.
The Panthers wrestle again on Tuesday at Louisa-Muscatine, starting with the JV matches at 6 p.m.
