Participating in their first World Tournament, the Washington archery team left Myrtle Beach, South Carolina, as one of the best teams around.
The Demons took part in the weekend tournament for the first time in program history, competing in the 3D target portion of the event, which features teams from all over the world.
As a team, the Demons scored a season-best 1,381 points, good enough to put them in the upper half of teams competing, taking 19th overall.
Fellow Iowa school, Anamosa, claimed the world title in the event with a 1,451.
Senior Jade Wells led the team on the tournament, taking 26th among all high school girls (43rd among all girls) with a 279 on the day.
Joseph Dalziel also shot a 279 in his final tournament as a Demon, putting him 47th among high school boys and 87th among all competing boys.
Griffin Wood was up next for the Demons, finishing in 52nd among high school boys (14th among freshman boys), notching a 278 on the day.
Grace Shafer scored a 273 to take 49th among high school girls (13th among junior girls), while Sammie Mellinger notched a 272 to take 53rd among middle school girls and 23rd among eighth-graders.
Kylee Porter was 12th among sophomore girls with a 270, while Lane Frana was 27th against other sixth-grade boys with a 269.
