Area athletes run at Eckstrand Relays
Thursday provided some impressive placings for the area track and field teams.
Many area squads traveled down to Wayland for the Eckstrand Relays hosted by WACO, and came away with strong placings.
In the boys? events, Mid-Prairie led all area teams with a fourth-place finish, with Washington taking fifth, Highland eighth, WACO finishing 11th and Iowa Mennonite placing 13th.

Thursday provided some impressive placings for the area track and field teams.
Many area squads traveled down to Wayland for the Eckstrand Relays hosted by WACO, and came away with strong placings.
In the boys? events, Mid-Prairie led all area teams with a fourth-place finish, with Washington taking fifth, Highland eighth, WACO finishing 11th and Iowa Mennonite placing 13th.
On the girls? side of the meet, Washington claimed the meet title, with Highland taking third place, IMS finishing in 10th and WACO taking 12th.

Mid-Prairie
The Mid-Prairie boys had a strong meet at the Eckstrand Relays, scoring 112 points with the help of numerous first-place finishes.
The Golden Hawks saw Marshal Teets take first in the high jump, clearing 5 feet ? 8 inches, while Floyd Evans won the 3200-meter run with a 10:37.09.
Luke Sigler claimed first in the 1600-meter run, while Evans took second in that event, and Peyton Miller claimed the 400-meter hurdle title.
Mid-Prairie?s 4x400-meter relay (Cary Schaefer, Quinn Schmidt, Evans, Miller) and 4x800 relay (Sigler, Brent Foster, Cary Schaefer, Miller) each took first at the meet.
Highland
The Highland girls? team was impressive at the meet, using strong races from numerous athletes to claim third.
Aly Stokes claimed the meet title in the high jump, clearing 4 feet ? 10 inches (Bailey Harmston took second in that event with 4 feet-8 inches), and Stokes also claimed the long jump title with a distance of 15 feet ? 7.25 inches.
Junior Kelsey Hora claimed second place in the 100-, 200- and 400-meter dashes.
On the boys? side of the meet, Billy Burton claimed a meet title in the long jump, reaching 20 feet ? 2.25 inches.
Josh Brand led the charge in the running events with a second-place finish in the 1600-meter run, while Caleb Brase took third in the 400-meter dash.
IMS
The IMS track team had a strong night on both sides of the meet, claiming multiple meet titles.
Levi Geyer led the boys with a personal best in the 3200-meter run, claiming the meet title, while Drake Brezina won the 400-meter dash and took second in the long jump.
In the girls? part of the meet, IMS? sprint medley relay team of Rachel Miller, Mackenzie Gutierrez, Suzanna Yoder and Calli Shaw won the title, while Yoder claimed second in the long jump.
Emma Beachy won second in the discus, while Rubye Ney claimed third in both the 400-meter and 100-meter hurdles.
WACO
The Warrior boys? team had a strong meet from one of its seniors, with Bryce Achen claiming first in the 200-meter dash and second in the 100-meter dash, then Beau Beckler winning the 110-meter hurdle title.
Colton Horak claimed second in the 400-meter hurdles.
On the girls? side of the meet, Mayme Hinh won the discus with a toss of 90 feet ? 2 inches, and took second in the shot put, with a toss of 30 feet ? 1.5 inches.
Kasey Sutton led the running events with a fourth-place finish in the 100-meter hurdles.
WACO?s 4x100-meter relay team of Sutton, Halle Kissell, Kiana Miller and Angel Frier won the meet title.
