A 10-run win by Winfield-Mount Union/Columbus and a rain-shortened loss for New London highlighted the last two days of small school area baseball.
Central Lee 9, New London 2
The Tigers had erased a 2-0 Central Lee lead with two runs in the top of the fourth, but the Hawks scored the next seven before a lightning strike ended the game in the bottom of the sixth inning.
New London had four hits on the day. Gavin Menke-Bailey, Owen Nehring, Riley Raines and Cale Westerbeck all had knocks.
Highland 13, New London 12 (Monday)
The Huskies beat the Tigers in an insane 10-inning affair at New London during a Southeast Iowa Super Conference crossover game.
William Dunbar and Colten Sypherd each ha three RBIs for the Huskies. Garrett Beeson and Ryker Miller knocked in two each.
New London’s Menke-Bailey wentt 2-for-4 with a home run and three RBIs. Raines and Gage Burden each knocked in two.
Winfield-Mount Union/Columbus 11, Wapello 1
The Wolves whipped Wapello in a SEISC North home game, winning in 10 innings.
Cole Milks went crazy in the game, going 3-for-3 with a triple, two doubles and four RBIs. Kaosn Dopler was 2-for-3 with two RBIs, adn Nicholas Sparrow knocked in two.
Hillcrest Academy 8, Van Buren County 3 (Monday)
Lincoln Miller and Phoenix Anderson each knocked in two runs to help the Ravens top the Warriors in a SEISC crossover game. Liam Schrock threw a complete game to get the win.
VBC’s Lucas Fett went 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI, and T.J. Jirak knocked in one run.
Mediapolis 7, Winfield-Mount Union/Columbus 1
Despite a 3-for-3 game from Milks and an RBI by Lane Genkinger, the Wolves fell by six in a crossover game.
Central Lee 12, Pekin 2 (Monday)
The Panthers were upended by the Hawks in crossover action despite a solo home run from Sven Dahlstrom and an RBI by Nolan Glick.
Durant 8, Mid-Prairie 6 (Monday)
Duranat scored two runs in the seventh to force extra innings and then knocked off Mid-Prairie in the 10th.
Brock Harland had two RBIs for the Golden Hawks. Tatem Telfer was 3-for-5 with one RBI.
Mid-Prairie 11, Durant 0
The Golden Hawks controlled Game 2 of a River Valley South doubleheader. Brady Weber threw a one-hitter in a complete-game five inning outing.
Telfer was 2-for-4 with three RBIs in Game 2. Brock Harland, Landry Gingerich and Dylan Henry all knocked in two runs.
Keota 16, English Valleys 10 (Monday)
The Eagles scored seven runs in the sixth inning to take out English Valleys in a slugfest.
Cole Kindred was 2-for-4 with a home run, a triple and five RBIs in the win. Tanner Waterhouse went 3-for-4 with three RBIs, and Blake Baker and Jacob Libe each knocked in two.
Cardinal 10, Clarke 3 (Monday)
The Comets ran past the Indians by seven runs in a South Central Conference home game.
Brenden Ballard knocked in three runs in the win. Gavin Ware went 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs, and Drake Durflinger was 1-for-4 with a double and two RBIs.
Cardinal 17, Clarke 2
The Comets continued to pound Clarke in Game 2, scoring 13 runs in the fourth inning to end the game early.
Durflinger went 3-for-4 with a double and four RBIs. Brody Phillips, Ballard, Cody Birlson, Jacob Figueroa, Gavin Ware and Matthew Blomme each knocked in two.
