Boys: Centerville 63, Fairfield 54
CENTERVILLE ? Fairfield made 29 trips to the free-throw line ? compared to Centerville?s 10 ? but converted on less than 50 percent and suffered a nine-point loss to the Big Red Tuesday night.
Centerville (9-2) made six of its 10 attempts en route to the 63-54 victory over the Trojans (1-11).
Grant Curran scored 19 and Davis Lowenberg tallied 18 for Fairfield, but couldn?t hold off

CENTERVILLE ? Fairfield made 29 trips to the free-throw line ? compared to Centerville?s 10 ? but converted on less than 50 percent and suffered a nine-point loss to the Big Red Tuesday night.
Centerville (9-2) made six of its 10 attempts en route to the 63-54 victory over the Trojans (1-11).
Grant Curran scored 19 and Davis Lowenberg tallied 18 for Fairfield, but couldn?t hold off a methodical Big Red offensive attack. Centerville also had enough offense to thwart a fourth-quarter rally. Nik Fitch added seven points and Brent Buch scored five.
Next up for the Trojans will be Friday?s trip to Washington.
Girls: Eddyville-Blakesburg 63, Fairfield 33
EDDYVILLE ?A hard-fought first half turned into an ?ugly? second half in Eddyville according to Fairfield coach Chad Thompson, and the Trojans fell to Eddyville-Blakesburg 63-33.
Thompson filled in for head coach Billy Strickler, who was absent due to the birth of his second child Tuesday evening.
Fairfield (5-9) trailed 22-20 mid-way through the second quarter, but went scoreless the rest of the half as well as another four-minute stretch in the third quarter. The Rockets (7-7) sealed the win in the final period.
The Trojans made seven field goals from inside the arc ? four from behind it ? and shot 25 percent from the field as Tori Ogden led the way with 11 points. Serena Ward scored nine points and hauled in five rebounds, Sidney Baumann tallied six points and Erin Thompson scored three more.
Fairfield will be back in action Friday night at Washington.
Boys: Pekin 66, Winfield-Mount Union 54
PACKWOOD ? Trey Sathoff poured in 38 points, and led a second-half comeback in Pekin?s 66-54 victory over Winfield-Mount Union Tuesday night.
From a 31-26 halftime deficit, the Panthers (8-5, 7-5 SEISC north) outscored the Wolves (8-6, 6-6) 40-23 in the final two periods to earn their fifth win in six tries. The lone loss in that streak came at the hands of No. 1 IMS Friday night.
Sathoff?s night moves him back to the top of the heap among all Class 2A scorers at 24.8 points per game.
The junior hit 4-of-6 from behind the arc and also had 10 rebounds while Graham Wittrock and Tater Clubb added six points apiece.
Next up for Pekin will be Thursday?s home game against non-conference rival Van Buren.
Girls: Pekin 47, Winfield-Mount Union 32
PACKWOOD ? An 18-4 lead after just one quarter of play was all Pekin needed to get a win over Winfield-Mount Union Tuesday.
The 14-point lead stuck, and the Wolves (6-9, 5-8 SEISC north) never got closer than 13 as Pekin (11-3, 10-3) won by a final score of 47-32.
The Panthers won by just two points in the first meeting between the two teams.
Sharp-shooting Jessi Martin scored 17 points to carry Pekin to the victory. Kaitlin Spilman was next with eight points to go along with 11 rebounds. Dominique Tolle had six points and three steals, Brandy Millikin came up with nine boards and Leslie Stone tacked on three points.
Next up for Pekin will be Thursday?s non-conference tilt against undefeated and 11th-ranked Van Buren at home.
Boys: Cardinal 52, New London 27
NEW LONDON ? The Cardinal boys? basketball team whipped New London 52-27 Tuesday night to sweep the season series with the Tigers (1-12, 1-10 SEISC south).
AJ Rachford posted a career-high 17 points to lead the Comets (6-7, 5-6) while Trevor Kayser tallied 12 points and six rebounds. Brandon Warren scored 10, Marcus Giltner added seven and Drew Ostrander came up with three steals.
Cardinal will now face a tough test Friday at Burlington-Notre Dame.
Girls: Cardinal 60, New London 22
NEW LONDON ? The Cardinal girls? basketball team hammered New London 60-22 Tuesday.
Cory Campbell led the Comets (8-6, 7-4 SEISC south) with 16 points and 14 rebounds. Liz Nichols added 11 points and Sam Nickel scored 10.
