WATERLOO — The Class 2A portion of the 2022 Iowa State bowling tournament took place on Wednesday and the area was well represented as a couple of Panthers and one Trojan took to the lanes.
Mt. Pleasant’s Eden Svoboda and Fairfield’s Karen Ehret finished neck-and-neck in the girls standings. Svoboda took 24th out of the 32 competitors, bowling a 477. Ehret was two pins behind her, finishing at 475, for 25th.
Svoboda stayed consistent all night, bowling a 163, a 170 and a 144 to reach her total. Ehret had a slow start, rolling 163 in her first game, but boomed with a 211 in her second before finishing with a 148.
On the boys’ side, Cole Wohlleber took 26th. He bowled a 171, a 193 and a 183 to get to a total of 547.
None of the area bowlers made the Top-8, which qualifies you for the tournament. Keokuk had a few qualifiers as Blake Hemann made it on the boys’ side and Rachel Moore and Sophia Rule on the girls’ side. Rule finished third.
Mount Pleasant High School's Eden Svoboda rolls during the Southeast Conference championship meet last season in Burlington. Svoboda was the top Class 2A area finisher at the state bowling meet, finishing 24th on the girls side. (File)
