Area bowling: Mt. Pleasant swept by Keokuk, Trojans split at DC

The first month of the 2024 bowling season continues to power on, and it did so at Iris Bowling Center in Mt. Pleasant on Thursday.
The Panthers welcomed in defending Southeast Conference champion Keokuk for a doubleheader. Mt. Pleasant was defeated 2,729 in the girls’ contest and 2,983-2,429 on the boys’ side.
The losses dropped both Mt. Pleasant teams to 1-1 on the season. Mt. Pleasant had swept Notre Dame-West Burlington in the opener.
Going into this week, the Trojan boys were the lone area unbeaten team. Fairfield is 3-0 after beating Davis County 2,770-2,592 last week.
In the Trojan boys’ win at Davis County, Ethan Cass led the way with a 423. Blake Ballew finished at 403. Dayson Workman finished at 401. Dylan Adam finished at 338. Axl Starr finished at 337, and Ian Aplara bowled a 299.
The Fairfield girls fell 2,412-1,809 at Davis County, dropping the Trojans to 1-2. Grace Forrest rolled a 282. Emma Cass finished at 248. Addison Harris rolled a 247. Autumn McBride bowled a 212, and Emma Forrest rolled a 206.
