Wildcats whip Wapello, Mid-Prairie splits

This weekend in area girls soccer saw Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union put up a seven spot against a Southeast Iowa Super Conference rival, and Mid-Prairie winning one and losing one on back-to-back days.
Columbus/WMU 7, Wapello 2
The Wildcats rolled up to Wapello for a Southeast Iowa Super Conference road game and rolled out with a five-goal victory on Thursday.
Columbus scored four goals in the first half and three in the second. Wapello scored one in each period.
Lacet Quiroz and Karyela Silerio each scored three goals in the win. Quiroz added two assists to lead the team with eight points.
Abby Acosta had the Wildcats’ other goal. She had an assist as well. Maribel Montiel dished out two assists, and Yaileen Miranda had one.
Alynna Leos spent all 80 minutes in net and recorded two saves.
Mid-Prairie 2, Cedar Valley Christian 0
The Golden Hawks scored one goal in each period in a shut down effort against Cedar Valley Christian on Thursday.
Sophia Baker and Niva Helmuth each scored one goal in the win. Kina Miller faced seven shots in net, and saved all seven.
Beckman Catholic 5, Mid-Prairie 1
The Golden Hawks scored one goal in the first half. Beckman Catholic scored two goals in the first half and three in the second to upend Mid-Prairie on Friday.
Baker scored one goal in the game. Miller saved 11 shots, allowing just four goals against.
