Area girls wrestle at West Liberty

WEST LIBERTY — It was another packed day of girls wrestling on Monday as a laundry list of teams traveled to West Liberty for a tournament that had 36 different weight classes.

Mid-Prairie fared the best of the Union area teams, scoring five winners on the night. The Golden Hawks received championships from Gabi Robertson at 105 pounds, Ellie Brenneman at 140, Grace Conway in the 140B bracket, Marissa Cline in the 145D bracket and Sam Stacey at 235.

Highland brought home three championships in the day. Abbie Grout won at 100. Mackenzie McFarlans won at 100, and Lilly Barre finished atop the 125B bracket.

WACO scored two winners on the day. Grace Fort won at 190, and Bralynn Wagler won at 235B.

Mt. Pleasant and Washington each finished with one champion. Ella McNamee won the 105C bracket for Mt. Pleasant, and Washington’s Teegan Sulentich won at 155.
