Area girls wrestlers battle in Columbus
Wildcats host scramble on Thursday night
COLUMBUS — A handful of area teams were in Columbus on Thursday night for the Wildcats’ home girls wrestling scramble. Area grapplers faced off in round robin matches, earning some more valuable experience in just the second year of sanctioned girls wrestling.
Among the area squads were the hosting Columbus/Winfield-Mount Union Wildcats, along with Highland, Pekin and WACO.
The event cycled through all weight classes with different matchups from the previous round, as some of the best on the mat in Southeast Iowa clashed against each other.
