Mid-Prairie 62 ? Northeast 22
The Golden Hawks posted 60 points in a contest for the second time in three games, claiming a 40-point victory on Friday night.
Ricky Vargas did lots of heavy lifting on offense, averaging 12.2 yards per carry en route to a 268-yard, five-touchdown night for the senior.
Keaton Duwa added a pair of rushing scores for the Golden Hawks, picking up 95 yards on the ground, while Karson Gingerich and Terrhyn Jacoby connected for a pair of passing scores on the night, with Jacoby on the receiving end of 86 of Gingerich?s 111 passing yards.
Defensively, Duwa made a big impact, notching 7.5 tackles to lead the squad, with a pair of sacks under his belt.
Jason Tew also claimed two sacks on the day, notching three tackles for a loss and a fumble recovery.
Jacoby was 8-for-9 on point after attempts.
Mid-Prairie wrap up their home season on Friday night, when they host Anamosa.
Sigourney-Keota 55 ? L-M 12
The Cobras continued their trek through district play, picking up their third-straight victory, notching at least 52 points in each of those wins.
The victory came with the help of their multi-headed rushing attack, with Avery Moore picking up 187 yards and three rushing scores, while Luke Greiner picked up 136 yards and four scores on the ground.
Greiner also found Moore for a 52-yard scoring strike, while Moore accounted for 118 receiving yards.
Sigourney-Keota will travel to face Wapello on Friday night, as they look to stake their claim to a playoff spot.
Highland 28 ? Columbus 0
The Huskies picked up their second win in a row, claiming a homecoming victory over the Wildcats in shutout fashion.
Senior quarterback Jake Wood picked up a pair of scoring throws, finding Trent Lasek on both strikes, while Trey Lasek led the team with 212 rushing yard and a score.
Wood also ran in a score, notching 36 yards on the ground.
Bill Burton made a big mark on defense, claiming three interceptions, to go with a team-best five tackles and two tackles for a loss.
Columbus was led by senior quarterback Carter Colby?s 38 yards on the ground, while Daniel Fuentes picked up 37 yards for the Wildcats.
The Huskies will play at Louisa-Muscatine on Friday night, while Columbus will host Regina.
