Area hoops recap from Tuesday

It was a busy week on the hardwood for area basketball teams as the season gets ready to wind down.

Winning their games Tuesday, Jan. 31, were the Mid-Prairie boys 66-49 at West Liberty. Their record is at 6-14.

The IMS boys won at Louisa-Muscatine 64-57 and have a 13-5 record while the Keota boys won their bout against English Valleys 91-24 and have a 16-3 record.

The Highland boys lost at Lone Tree 64-73 giving them a 14-3 record, the WACO boys lost 43-67 putting their record at 2-16 at West Burlington and the Columbus boys lost 45-63 at Mediapolis. They have a 1-17 record.

The Golden Hawk girls won at West Liberty Tuesday with a 69-30 final score giving them a 14-5 record. The WACO girls won at West Burlington 47-45 putting their season at 5-14.

Losing their game at Lone Tree were the Highland girls 39-42. They have a 14-5 record. The IMS girls lost at Louisa-Muscatine 37-53 puting them at 0-16 and the Keota girls lost 21-43 giving them a 0-20 record.

Mid-Prairie next plays at Cascade, Highland is host to Wapello, IMS faces Pekin at home, WACO is playing Cardinal at home and Columbus is host to Lone Tree. Girls action begins at 6 p.m. Friday, Feb. 3, with the boys games to follow.
