Area seniors battle in Burlington
BHS hosts annual All-Star Saturday

BURLINGTON — Some of the best senior volleyball talent Southeast Iowa has to offer met up in Burlington on Saturday night for one last time playing in a high school uniform.
On one side of the net was a team stacked with area players, such as Mt. Pleasant’s Addison Clark, Fairfield’s Isabel McCready, Winfield-Mt. Union’s Quin Smith and Van Buren County’s Sophia Jirak.
On the other side was a team featuring co-coach Selena Sayre of Van Buren County, who coached her own player in Ashlynn Huff, as well as Mt. Pleasant’s Alex Scott.
The team with Clark, McCready, Smith and Jirak won the match in three sets, taking it 25-22, 25-20 and 25-20.
Also on the All-Star list but not present at the game were Washington’s Leighton Messinger and Demon head coach Aaron Six.
