Area softball roundup: Coil hits for cycle

Monday saw a handful of area softball teams take to the field for a handful of area games. A cycle for the Columbus/WACO Wildcats highlighted the night’s action.
Columbus/WACO 10, Holy Trinity 8
Sophomore Lily Coil hit for the cycle to lead Columbus past Holy Trinity in a wild one. The Wildcat pitcher went 4-for-5 with a home run, a triple, a double and a single. She knocked in two and scored three runs. Jocelyn Fulton knocked in three runs, and Sera Vela had three hits.
Winfield-Mount Union 21, Danville 7
Winfield-Mount Union scored 12 runs in the fourth inning and five in the eighth to come back from a 5-1 deficit and win.
Keely Malone was 3-for-5 with two RBIs. Josie Nelson and Quin Smith each knocked in three runs, and Anna Anderson was 2-for-4 with a solo homer.
Central Lee 12, Van Buren County 8
Hillcrest Academy 16, New London 6
Hillcrest Academy’s Delaney Shaw was 3-for-4 with two doubles and three RBIs in the win over New London. Morgyn Nafziger and Lydia Beachy each knocked in three runs.
Lynnville-Sully 12, Keota 0
The Eagles struggled to stop Lynnville-Sully in a four-inning home game.
Highland 13, Mediapolis 1
Highland picked up its 19th-straight win over Mediapolis in the all-time series. The Bullettes have not beaten the Huskies since 2012.
Iowa City Regina 4, Mid-Prairie 3
The Regals hit a walk-off home run in the ninth inning after coming back from 3-0 down to stun Mid-Prairie.
