Area softball roundup: Columbus tops New London
Wildcats edge Tigers in SEISC crossover game

Columbus’ close win over New London highlighted a busy two days in area softball.
Columbus 9, New London 6 (Monday)
The Wildcats rallied back from an early 2-0 deficit to beat New London in a Southeast Iowa Super Conference North Division battle.
Aracely Garza went 3-for-4 with two RBIs to lead Columbus. Lily Coil was 3-for-3 with an RBI.
Van Buren County 12, Winfield-Mount Union 2 (Monday)
Van Buren County piled on the runs in against WMU, winning the game in six innings.
Callie Kracht was 1-for-2 with a triple and two RBIs to lead the Warriors. Alicia Cumberland gave up just two earned runs in six innings to earn the win.
Makiah Lower went 2-for-3 for WMU. Lilly Heckethorn and Jessi Renken knocked in one run each.
Highland 8, Danville 1 (Monday)
Highland’s Payton Brun knocked in two runs, and Addisyn Prottsman went 2-for-2 with an RBI as the Huskies beat Danville in a SEISC crossover.
Highland 11, Lone Tree 4
Highland grabbed a SEISC North win over Lone Tree, thanks in part to Mackenzie Davis, who went 2-for-4 with a double and four RBIs.
Mediapolis 9, Hillcrest Academy 6 (Monday)
Despite a four-RBI night from Delaney Shaw, the Ravens fell in a crossover contest against Mediapolis.
Hillcrest Academy 10, Columbus 7
The Ravens outlasted the Wildcats in a wild one in Kalona.
Lydia Beachy led Hillcrest, going 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Lilly Coil went 2-for-4 with three RBis for Columbus, and Kennedy Woepking was 3-for-3 with two RBIs.
Wapello 16, Pekin 0
The Panthers struggled to score runs in a SEISC North showdown.
Louisa-Muscatine 16, WACO 0
The Warriors fell victim to the first place Falcons, who are now 7-0 in SEISC North play.
No. 6 (2A) Regina 10, Mid-Prairie 4 (Monday)
The Golden Hawks couldn’t take down sixth-ranked Iowa City Regina, despite a home run and three RBIs from Sophie Miller.
No. 6 (2A) Regina 8, Mid-Prairie 6 (Monday)
The Golden Hawks nearly came back from 8-0 down in their final at-bat, but came up two runs short.
No. 4 (3A) Mount Vernon 3, Mid-Prairie 0
The Golden Hawks had a third-straight tough lost against a ranked opponent with a shut out defeat on Tuesday night.
No. 10 (2A) Cardinal 7, Davis County 5
Emma Becker had a triple, two RBIs and three runs scored as part of a 4-for-4 night at the plate for Cardinal.
No. 10 (2A) Cardinal 9, Fort Madison 1
The Comets were all over Fort Madison in a non-conference game on Tuesday night.
Maclain Hickenbottom dominated over six innings in the circle. Nicoa McClure had three hits, and Cynthia Albert had two hits and three RBIs.
Lynville-Sully 20, Keota 4
The Eagles struggled in a home loss to Lynville-Sully.
