A handful of area teams hit the softball fields on Wednesday night. Cardinal fell in walk-off fashion, and both Keota and New London fell by double digits.
Twin Cedars 2, Cardinal 1
The Comets couldn’t find their offense in a road loss to Twin Cedars.
The Sabres scored first, tallying one run in the third inning. Cardinal tied things up in the sixth, but Twin Cedars walked it off with two outs in the bottom of the seventh.
Summer LaRue had two of the Comets’ six hits in the loss, going 2-for-3 with an RBI. Nicoa McClure was 1-for-2 with a double.
McClure threw all 6.2 innings for the Comets. She threw 112 pitches and gave up two runs (one earned) on five hits and two walks, while striking out eight batters.
English Valleys 10, Keota 0
The Eagles fell behind early when English Valleys scored five first-inning runs. Keota could never score on the Bears’ pitching, collecting just two hits in the loss.
Central Lee 15, New London 1 (3)
New London had trouble containing the Central Lee bats, as the Hawks scored 13 runs over the first two innings en route to a 14-run victory.
