Area softball roundup: Warriors, Huskies roll

The area saw two matchups between Union teams on the small school softball slate. Van Buren County and Highland each picked up a win.

Van Buren County 13, New London 1

The Warriors scored nine runs in the second inning in a four-inning win, scooping up a Southeast Iowa Super Conference South Division win along the way.

Van Buren County’s Kylee Roan went 3-for-3 with two RBIs. Ivy Davidson was 2-for-2 with a double and two RBIs, and Riley Cavaness went 2-for-2 with a pair of RBIs as well.

Van Buren County’s Addison Brauns pitched all four innings. She gave up one unearned run on two hits and two walks.

Highland 12, Hillcrest Academy 0

The Huskies scored four runs in the first inning and eight in the third to run past the Ravens in SEISC North play.

Sarah Burton went 2-for-3 with a pair of triples and two RBIs for Highland. Payton Brun was 2-for-2 with an RBI.

Jessica Kraus threw a three-inning one-hitter. She struck out six Ravens and walked two.
