Area softball seasons up and running
Area softball seasons started recently and for area teams, and for most, it?s been a challenging start.
Mid-Prairie has a 0-3 record. They lost both doubleheader games to West Liberty Thursday, May 25. The first game ended 10-11 and the second one had an 8-15 final score. The girls played at Mount Vernon Friday, May 26, and lost 0-10.
The Golden Hawks played at North Cedar Tuesday, May 30, but as of press time, ...

Area softball seasons started recently and for area teams, and for most, it?s been a challenging start.
Mid-Prairie has a 0-3 record. They lost both doubleheader games to West Liberty Thursday, May 25. The first game ended 10-11 and the second one had an 8-15 final score. The girls played at Mount Vernon Friday, May 26, and lost 0-10.

Mid-Prairie is host to Monticello tonight, starting at 7:30 p.m.
So far, Highland is the only area team with a winning record. They are 3-0 and winning at Van Buren 9-1 Monday, May 22.
The Huskies won at Mediapolis Tuesday, May 23, by a 10-0 score and defeated Lone Tree Tuesday, May 30, 8-2. Highland plays at home against Columbus/WACO Friday, June 2, starting at 7 p.m.
Iowa Mennonite has started off their season with a 0-2 record. They lost to Montezuma 3-11 Tuesday, May 23, and lost 7-11 to Mediapolis Thursday, May 25.
Their next game is Monday, June 5, at home against Columbus/WACO. That game starts at 7 p.m.
Keota?s season has started with four-straight losses. They lost to Iowa Valley Monday, May 22, by a 1-10 score.
They were shut out 0-14 at Belle Plaine Wednesday, May 24, and lost 1-9 to Tri-County Friday, May 26.
The Eagles played at Sigourney Wednesday, May 31, and lost 0-19.
Their next game is Friday, June 2, starting at 6 p.m. when they host English Valleys.
Columbus/WACO has a 0-8 record so far this season. they lost to West Burlington Monday, May 22, by a 0-12 score.
They lost to Pekin 3-4 Tuesday, May 23. The Washington Demons handed the Wildcats a 0-8 loss Wednesday, May 24.
The girls lost 1-13 Thursday, May 25, at Sigourney. They lost all three games of a tournament at Louisa-Muscatine Saturday, May 27. The first game ended 4-19 in West Burlington?s favor.
Host school L-M dealt the Wildcats a 0-17 loss in the second game of the tournament and the girls lost 0-19 to Mt. Pleasant in the final game.
The girls were host to New London Tuesday, May 30, which ended in a 0-7 loss. Columbus plays against L-M Thursday, June 1, starting at 6 p.m.
