Area squads compete in SEISC wrestling meet
Columbus/WMU leads area teams in Super Conference wrestling tournament

PACKWOOD — The Southeast Iowa Super Conference held its annual SEISC Tournament on Saturday.
All the Super Conference area teams were in action including Columbus/WMU, Highland, WACO, Van Buren County, New London and Pekin.
Columbus/WMU was the highest placer out of the Union area, finishing second with 156.5 points. Highland followed in third with 135 points. WACO ended in sixth with 94 points. Van Buren County finished eighth with 68 points, New London ninth with 54.5 points and Pekin 10th with 48.5 points.
Burlington Notre Dame took the title with a whopping 309 points.
The Wildcats finished with two first-place finishers in Markel Zapiensz at 215 and Itai Zapiensz at 285. Bowen Thomson was a second-place finisher for the Wildcats at 132 as well.
For Highland, Isaac Kleese (215), Brock Thomann (126) and Cash Cole (113) were all second-place finishers.
WACO had one champion on the day in Louden Huisenga at 190. Ian Maize and Gage Samo both finished second overall at 106 and 120 respectively.
Van Buren County was led by Elijah Westercamp at 190. Westercamp ended the tournament with a third overall finish. Carver Goehring (138), Jackson Meek (150) and Alex Scott (175) all placed fourth.
Gavin Menke-Bailey and Gage Burden led New London with second-place finishes at 150 and 138 respectively.
For Pekin, Henry Adam was the highest placer, finishing third at 165. Zachary Doud (138) and Jonah Breon (285) both placed fifth.
