PELLA — The 2025 indoor track schedule has come to a close after a handful of Union area teams competed at the final meet before heading outside this weekend.
Mt. Pleasant, Hillcrest Academy and Pekin each sent both the boys and girls teams to the meet. The Washington girls competed, as did the New London boys.
Mt. Pleasant had seven Top-10 finishers in the girls events, including a pair of second-place finishers. Ella Ensminger took silver in the shot put, and Izzy Sloat finished second in the long jump.
Mt. Pleasant’s 4X200 team took third, the best relay of the day for either Panther squad.
Jenna Schwartz and Kynlee White finished sixth in the high jump and 200-meter dash respectively. White took eighth in the 60-meter dash, just ahead of teammate Kiyah Sanders, who crossed in 10th.
The only Top-10 result for the Panther boys came in the high jump, where Kaden Schadt finished in seventh.
Hillcrest Academy had four Top-10 finishes on the girls’ side, and three of those came from Rya Scott.
Scott took third in the long jump competition, earning some field points, and then did the rest in the sprints, taking seventh in the 60-meter dash, and 10th in the 200-meter dash.
The only other Top-10 finish for the Hillcrest girls belonged to Siena Stanerson, who finished fourth in the 3000-meter run.
On the boys’ side, Hillcrest’s Owen Scott finished second in the long jump.
The Pekin girls had three Top-2 finishers, including a couple of championships. Chloe Glosser took home the top prize in the 1500-meter run, and Anna Hadley won the shot put.
The other big finish for the Pekin girls came in the high jump, where Kayse Miller took second place.
On the boys’ side, Pekin filled the Top-10 lists, with the best two finishes coming by Cadence Bender in the shot put and the Panther 4X200-meter relay team. Both of those events took second.
Pekin had two Top-5 finishers in the boys’ long jump. Alijah Brock took fourth, and Will Adam finished in fifth.
Kasey Davis was fourth in the 60-meter hurdles, and he had a teammate right behind him as well. Robert Brown crossed one spot after Davis, in fifth.
The Pekin boys’ 4X800 team finished fourth, while the 4X400 team took fifth. Brody Sobaski finished 10th in the high jump.
The Washington girls took home five Top-10 finishes, including four that landed in the Top-4.
Jaedyn Moore took third place in two different events. She picked up a bronze in both the 60-meter dash and the 200-meter dash.
The 4X400-meter relay team for the Demon girls took fourth place. Kendall Hinrichsen was fifth in the 800-meter run, and Jaslyn Villa was ninth in the long jump.
New London’s boys' team finished with four Top-8 results, including a couple by London Frnaklin.
Franklin’s best result came in the long jump, where he took third place. He finished fourth in the 60-meter dash.
Riley Raines represented the Tigers well in the 1600, taking fifth place. Brigham Porter was eighth in the 200-meter dash.
