Area teams climb rankings
Washington up to No. 3; New London 8, Mid-Prairie 9

Three area teams are ascending up the Associated Press’ Iowa High School rankings. Each of the Union area’s ranked teams sits higher than it did the previous week.
Washington moved up two spots to No. 3 in Class 3A. The Demons are one spot behind Southeast Conference rival Fort Madison, which sits in the No. 2 slot.
New London is up from No. 10 to No. 8 in the Class 1A rankings. Mid-Prairie makes its debut in the Class 2A rankings, at 9.
The only other Union area team getting votes is WACO. The Warriors were given two votes in the Class 1A rankings.
