Area wrestling sees success at SEISC meet
Columbus/WMU, New London, Highland each crown conference champions

NEW LONDON — It was an eventful day for the 11 teams that took part in the Southeast Iowa Super Conference wrestling tournament on Saturday.
As far as the Union area, there was an abundance of success.
Columbus/WMU paced the area teams with a second-place finish, tallying 176 points.
Burlington Notre Dame were the highest finishers on the night with 242.5 points.

Van Buren finished sixth with 92.5, New London ended in seventh with 63.5 points, Highland was eighth with 61.5, WACO ninth with 60 and Pekin at 10 with 42.
Leading the way for Columbus/WMU was Russel Coil, winning a conference title at 285.
Ian Estudillo (113), Ty Scorpil (120) and Ethan Palmer (195) were all second-place finishers.
Dante Zuniga (145), Triston Miller (152), Cole Storm (160) and Riley Kaalberg (182) all finished third.

Van Buren County’s Colt Boyles (106) and Korbin Camp (132) each finished second.
Tyler Stoltz was a third-place finisher at 138.
For New London, Dom Lopez was the Tigers lone conference champion at 160.
Trent Wilkerson finished second at 220 and Michael Raines was a third-place finisher at 170.
Highland’s top finisher was Carlos Valenzuela who took first at 132.
Brock Thomann (126) and Jack Peiffer (138) each took fourth overall.
WACO had a pair of second-place finisher on the day. Louden Huisenga (160) and Johnathan Heather (285) each took the second spot.
Drew Diers was a third-place finisher at 195.
Gavyn Brown (170) and Blake Juhl (182) each led Pekin with second-place finishes.
