Monday night was supposed to be a full night of Southeast Conference action, the first slate of games which would have counted toward the conference championship. Instead, only the Washington vs. Ft. Madison doubleheader was played, as inclement weather postponed the vast majority of big school contests.
Altogether, 10 scheduled games were moved to later dates. Fairfield was set to host Burlington in softball and baseball doubleheaders. Mt. Pleasant baseball and softball had scheduled doubleheaders at Keokuk, and the Washington baseball team was scheduled to host Ft. Madison.
Most of the postponed SEC games will be held tonight (Tuesday). Mt. Pleasant will travel to Keokuk for their doubleheader. Fairfield softball will host Burlington, and Washington baseball will play their home games against Ft. Madison. The Fairfield baseball doubleheader against Burlington was moved to July 7.
To go along with big school postponements, the majority of area small schools had their Monday games postponed as well.
There is some good news for area sports fans. The next three days of play should go on without error, as weather in Southeast Iowa will brighten up for most of the week.
