BLOOMFIELD - Washington traveled to play Davis County Tuesday in a nonconference boys basketball game and the Demon defense helped start the way to a 67-48 win.
The Demons allowed just eight points in the first quarter and five in the second while scoring 17 in each to lead 34-13 at halftime.
'In the first half, we worked on our man-to-man press by jumping the ballhandler to get some steals and pressure them into making mistakes,” Washington head coach Collin Stark said. 'We got out to a 9-0 lead to start the game and continued to pressure for the rest of the half.”
It was 50-27 after three quarters.
'We had guys step up off the bench as we had guys in foul trouble early,” Stark said. 'We continue to start the games off well.
Stark was happy with the Demons passing as it resulted in 16 assists on 27 made baskets.
'The only negative that I saw with this game was our fouls and keeping the intensity in the second half even though we were up by over 20 points,” Stark said. 'I am very excited for Kasen Bailey. He really came to play and finally had that great shooting night that we knew he could have. I look for great things from him down the stretch.”
Bailey finished with 23 points and six assists. Trashaun Willis and Travis Leyden scored 10 points apiece for the Demons. Ethan Patterson tallied nine points and three assists, Lance Sobaski had six points and Noah Suchan five. Sobaski contributed eight rebounds and three assists. Lucas Kroll and Thomas Bias each had two points.
