Cardinal marks down 13th-straight
DANVILLE ? Another game, another win for the Cardinal baseball team as the Comets tallied their 13th straight triumph with an 8-5 victory over Danville Tuesday afternoon.
Jake Scherer led the offensive charge going 3-4 followed by Coty Ridgway and Tanner Thorne each going 2-4. Scherer and Ridgway scored two runs while Thorne had two RBIs.

Cardinal marks down 13th-straight
DANVILLE ? Another game, another win for the Cardinal baseball team as the Comets tallied their 13th straight triumph with an 8-5 victory over Danville Tuesday afternoon.
Jake Scherer led the offensive charge going 3-4 followed by Coty Ridgway and Tanner Thorne each going 2-4. Scherer and Ridgway scored two runs while Thorne had two RBIs.
Colton Millard, Tanner Chance and Ridgway all made pitching appearances as Millard was credited with the win after going four strong innings that included four strikeouts. Tanner Chance fanned five batters in three innings of relief work before Ridgway was credited with the save by pitching a perfect seventh inning with three strikeouts.
Cardinal?s scheduled game against West Burlington was rained out in the evening and will be made up tonight with the varsity beginning at 7 p.m.
Fairfield Babe Ruth all-stars win game one
In the first game of a three game series that decides who will advance to the state tournament, the 13-year old Fairfield Babe Ruth all-stars picked up a 15-2 win against Davis County Monday night.
Mason Ellis? triple was just one of his three hits that drove in two runs. Ellis scored three runs himself as Kolby Allsup also had three hits including a double and two runs scored. Chet Vogt and Tristan Downing each scored three more runs as Ellis handled things from the mound.
Ellis struck out seven and allowed just four hits in four innings to earn the win. Jordan Whitney pitched a perfect fifth inning with one strikeout to relieve Ellis and hold on to the lead.
After Tuesday?s rainout, game two is scheduled for tonight and game three will be played Thursday if necessary.
