Baseball: Mid-Prairie, Van Buren County win three straight

No. 1 (Class 2A) Mid-Prairie 7, Bettendorf 2
The Golden Hawks were down 1-0 heading into the fourth, but were able to tie the game in their half of the fourth.
Mid-Prairie scored two more in the bottom of the sixth and defensively were able to limit the Bulldogs to just one run in the top half of the seventh.
Karson Grout, Brock Harland, Collin Miller and Blake Swart all had a hit in the win. Swart had the Golden Hawks lone RBI.
Mid-Prairie 7, Williamsburg 3
After one inning on Friday against Williamsburg, the Golden Hawks found themselves down 2-0.
Mid-Prairie stayed poised though, scoring six runs between the second and fourth innings giving them a 6-3 lead heading into the fifth.
The rest of the way out, the Golden Hawks were able to shutout the Raiders, while bringing home one additional run.
Alex Bean finished with three hits and four RBIs in the game.
Karson Grout had a pair of hits as well.
Mid-Prairie 10, West Branch 2
The Golden Hawks and Bears were tied 1-1 after one inning on Saturday, but West Branch would score just once more the rest of the way out.
Meanwhile, the Golden Hawks scored nine runs between the third and sixth innings.
Joe Hall had three hits and three RBIs for the Golden Hawks.
Collin Miller and Dylan Henry both had a pair of hits. Henry finished with two RBIs and Miller one.
Columbus 8, Wapello 7
The Wildcats grabbed their first victory of the season on Friday with a win over the Indians on Friday.
Columbus built up a 3-0 lead after two innings. Heading into the fifth the Wildcats lead improved to 5-1, but Wapello began a comeback.
The Indians went on to outscore the Wildcats 5-1 to knot the game at 6-6 heading into the seventh.
Columbus was able to score a pair in the top half of the seventh, while holding the Indians to one for the win.
Van Buren County 16, Wapello 6
Van Buren County used a big eight run fourth inning to blister past Wapello on Thursday.
Jackson Manning and Tyler Stoltz both finished with a pair of RBIs for the Warriors.
Van Buren County 8, West Burlington 3
Van Buren County scored four runs in the third and added three more in the sixth to down West Burlington on Friday.
The Warriors held West Burlington scoreless in five straight innings.
Van Buren County 10, Fairfield 7
The Warriors picked up their third win in a row on Saturday with the win over Fairfield.
Van Buren County was down 7-0 heading into the fourth, but they it went on to outscore the Trojans 10-0 for the win.
For Fairfield, Dain Burkhart led the way with three hits and one RBI.
Cody Birlson had two hits and two RBIs as well.
Fairfield 8, Pekin 7
Pekin jumped out to a 3-0 lead against Fairfield on Thursday, but the Trojans answered back with eight runs between the second and fifth innings.
Fairfield held a 8-5 advantage heading into the sixth.
Pekin got two back in the bottom half of the seventh, but that wouldn’t be enough.
Landon Nodurft led the Trojans with three hits and four RBIs in the win.
Tate Allen had two hits. Isaac Harris finished with a pair of RBIs as well.
For Pekin, Will Adam finished with a hit and two RBIs.
New London 13, Danville 3
New London scored in five straight innings against Danville on Friday.
The Tigers scored all 13 runs between the first and fifth innings.
Nicholas Powell, Tate Welcher, Kye Reighard and Gavin Menke-Bailey all had two hits in the win.
Welcher and Powell both had three RBIs as well.
Reighard finished with a pair of RBIs too.
Hillcrest Academy 18, Danville 0
Hillcrest Academy had no problem with Danville on Thursday.
The Ravens scored 14 runs in the first three innings and added four more in the fifth.
Luke Schrock had three hits and two RBIs in the win. Josiah Beachy added two hits and three RBIs as well.
Hillcrest Academy 17, Louisa-Muscatine 3
The Ravens scored 10 runs in the second inning against the Falcons on Friday.
They didn’t stop there though, scoring four in the third and three in the fourth to blow by Louisa-Muscatine.
Phoenix Anderson had three hits and one RBI to lead the Ravens.
Luke Schrock, Mason Bender and Grant Bender each had two hits in the win. Schrock and Grant Bender finished with four RBIs each.
Rowen Miller had one hit and three RBIs.
Highland 12, Pekin 2
Highland put on a scoring display through four innings on Friday against Pekin.
The Huskies scored five in the first, two in both the second and third, while finishing off with three in the fourth.
Pekin scored once in both the third and fifth, but the Highland lead was too great.
Tyler Thompson and Tristin Richardson both finished with a pair of hits in the victory for Highland. Thompson also added two RBIs.
For Pekin, JaeDon Wolver finished with two hits. Deklan Hampton had the Panthers’ lone RBI.
Central Lee 8, Highland 1
Central Lee scored six runs in the second inning and Highland could never recover from the deficit.
The Huskies got on the board in the fourth with one run, but the Hawks scored two more in the bottom half of the inning.
Tyler Thompson and Aiden Paisley each had one hit in the loss.
West Burlington 7, Winfield-Mt. Union 2
Winfield-Mt. Union and West Burlington were tied at 2-2 after the third inning on Thursday, but the Wolves would never score again.
West Burlington went on to score three in the fifth and two in the sixth.
Riley Kaalberg and Kohlby Newsom both finished with a hit in the loss.
Louisa-Muscatine 10, New London 9
New London led Louisa-Muscatine 3-0 after the second inning.
The Falcons added six runs through the third and fifth innings.
The Tigers scored three more in the fourth, tying the game at 6-6 heading into the sixth.
New London scored one in the sixth, while the Falcons score one in the seventh.
After a scoreless eighth, the Falcons scored a trio of runs in the ninth. New London narrowly knotted the game, but scored just two in the bottom half of the ninth.
Brendan Richey finished with three hits and three RBIs in the loss. Gage Burden had a pair of hits as well.
