Baseball roundup: Clarahan, Duwa home runs boost Keota

NORTH ENGLISH — Both Colten Clarahan and Brady Duwa walloped a home run Wednesday for Keota in a 12-2 win over English Valleys in a South Iowa Cedar League baseball game.
Besides the dinger, Clarahan struck out five Bears, walked one, allowed one hit one earned run, one unearned run as the winning pitcher and went 4-for-5 at the plate, batted in five runs and scored two.
In addition to his round-trip hit, Duwa had a double, a single, scored four times and batted in two runs.
Patrick Clarahan had a double as he and Keota teammates Sam Sieren and Carson Sprouse each had two hits.
Luke Hammen pitched one and a third innings with no hits, a walk and recorded all five outs by strikeout. Aidan Anderson pitched two and a third innings with two Ks, two hits, two walks. The Eagles’ three pitcher combination gave up a total of three hits to the Bears, who have a record of 4-11, 4-8 SICL.
Keota is 9-6, 7-5 which is behind five other league teams — Sigourney at 10-2, North Mahaska and Lynnville-Sully at 9-3, Montezuma and HLV at 7-4.
Tigers no-hit by Pirates
NEW LONDON — The No. 10 team in Class 1A could not muster a single hit against the nonconference visitors from Alburnett but eight walks, a hit batter, an error and a Josh Catala pitching performance allowed New London (16-0) a 2-1 victory over the Pirates (14-7).
Catala went six innings with three strikeouts, a walk, four hits and an earned run for the win. Seth Bailey threw one inning with two strikeouts and a walk.
Comets streak to win
MORAVIA — Cardinal (13-8) used an offensive attack of 12 hits and seven stolen bases to overcome Moravia (8-11), notching a nonconference road win 13-8.
Four pitchers overcame five Cardinal errors with Chance Randolph getting the win for his four innings with three hits, two walks, three strikeouts and no earned runs of the four scored against him.
Blaine Bryant and Tristan Cloke each batted in three Cardinal runs. Matt Streeby and Dawson Lewis had three hits apiece while Landon Becker had a double and a triple. Blaine Bryant had a single and a double. Streeby, Bryant, and Lewis had two stolen bases apiece.
Wolves wither
BURLINGTON — In a Super Conference road game, Winfield-Mount Union gave up a run in the first two innings and 14 runs in the third and fourth to lose 15-0 (4).
